questions
The best time to get your roof treated by Roof Revival is when the asphalt shingles start to show signs of drying out and losing their flexibility. This usually happens when the roof is between 6 and 10 years old. However, sometimes we treat roofs that are 15 to 20 years old and have even been able to save roofs up to 30 years old.
Asphalt roofs begin drying out and becoming brittle at different rates, since we are located in Florida the intensity of the sun’s UV rays are likely going to dry out your roof sooner compared to those in other regions of the country. Most roofs are ready for a Roof Revival treatment by the time they are 6-10 years old. But don’t worry if your roof is older than that and hasn’t yet been treated. We have treated much older roofs up to 30-years old and have been able to extend the life for a guaranteed 6-years.
The biggest sign to look for is a loss of flexibility in the roof shingles. So, how do you know if your shingles are drying out and losing their flexibility?
Asphalt shingles contain asphalt granules, which are the small, sand-like pebbles that stick together when the shingles’ natural oils are still intact. But once those oils start to dry out with age, the granules begin flaking off and you may see them in your gutters, downspouts, etc. Other signs your roof is drying out include black stains and streaks or shingles cracking, breaking, and curling.
